Effective date: October 5, 2025
App name: Pixelup
Contact: nathanlinshuo@gmail.com
Pixelup enhances your photos using on‑device machine learning (Core ML).
Your images are processed locally by default and never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share/export or back them up to your own cloud/storage.
We do not sell your data.
We collect minimal analytics to improve stability and performance (you can opt out where platform settings allow).
You control your data: export, delete, or revoke permissions at any time.
This Privacy Policy explains how Pixelup ("we," "our," or "us") processes information when you use our mobile application and related features (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Images & Videos (User Content): Photos or frames you select for enhancement. By default, processing occurs entirely on‑device. We do not access, transmit, or store your media on our servers.
In‑App Feedback/Support: If you email us or submit logs voluntarily, we will receive the content you send (e.g., screenshots, device info). This is used solely to troubleshoot and respond.
Diagnostics & Crash Data: App version, device model, OS version, timestamps, and anonymized crash traces to improve stability.
Performance Telemetry (optional): Anonymous event counts (e.g., feature usage, processing duration buckets). No image content or identifiers are included.
No precise location, contacts, or health data are collected by default.
Core Functionality: Run super‑resolution, denoising, and related ML operations (e.g., Real‑ESRGAN) locally on your device.
Product Improvement: Analyze aggregate, anonymized telemetry and crash logs to improve speed, stability, and UX.
Customer Support: Respond to inquiries and diagnose issues when you contact us.
Legal Compliance: Fulfill legal obligations and enforce Terms.
Pixelup’s enhancement pipeline (pad → process → crop) executes on‑device using Apple’s Core ML / Neural Engine where available.
We do not train models on your User Content.
Export/sharing actions are initiated only by you; the data leaves your device only when you choose to share/save.
Pixelup does not upload your media to our servers. If you choose to back up edited results to third‑party clouds (e.g., iCloud Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox) or share to social networks, those services’ own privacy policies apply.
We may use privacy‑respecting third‑party SDKs for:
Crash Reporting & Diagnostics (e.g., platform‑provided tools): anonymized device metadata and crash traces.
Analytics (optional/minimal): aggregated usage trends without personal identifiers or media content.
We contractually prohibit third‑party partners from selling your data or using it for cross‑app tracking unrelated to Pixelup.
Photos / Media Library: Needed to let you select images for enhancement and to save results back to your library. On iOS, you can grant Add Only or Limited access. On Android, we request the narrowest available scope (e.g., media picker or photo picker APIs) and avoid persistent broad storage permissions whenever possible.
Camera (optional): If you capture a new photo in‑app.
Notifications (optional): To inform you when a long process completes (when implemented). You can disable in system settings.
You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings. The app remains usable but certain features may be limited.
On‑Device Media: Your original and enhanced images remain on your device until you delete them via your gallery or file manager.
Diagnostics/Telemetry: Retained only as long as necessary for the stated purposes, typically up to 24 months in aggregate form. Support emails are retained as required to resolve your request and for legal/accounting obligations.
We do not sell personal data.
We do not share your User Content (images/videos) with advertising networks or data brokers.
We may disclose limited information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or during a merger/acquisition (with successor bound by this Policy or an equivalent).
Pixelup is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where diagnostic or analytics data is processed by third parties, it may be transferred to and processed in countries different from your own. We implement appropriate safeguards to protect your information consistent with applicable laws.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
Access / Portability: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
Correction / Deletion: Ask us to correct or delete your personal data.
Restriction / Objection: Limit certain processing, including analytics.
Withdraw Consent: Where consent is the basis, withdraw at any time.
To exercise rights, email nathanlinshuo@gmail.com. We may request information to verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by law.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising. We honor applicable rights (know, delete, correct, limit use of sensitive data, opt‑out of sharing) as defined by California law. Submit requests via nathanlinshuo@gmail.com.
We rely on the following legal bases where applicable:
Performance of a Contract: To provide the Service and core features.
Legitimate Interests: Improve stability, prevent abuse, and support.
Consent: Optional analytics/telemetry where required by law.
We use industry‑standard technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data processed (e.g., OS‑level sandboxing, least‑privilege permissions, transport encryption for support emails). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we continuously refine our safeguards.
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in laws, SDKs, or features. We will update the Effective date and, where required, notify you in‑app. Your continued use after an update indicates acceptance.
