3D Rendering Engine, Ultrasound Modalities, SAMSUNG Healthcare

- Spatio-Temporal Image Correlation (STIC) Cine play - improved rendering speed by almost 10x
- Realistic and Translucency Volume and surface rendering algorithms
- Enhancement and Optimization of various Image Processing Filters by using Compute Shader to implement them on GPU
Propagation of Vector Beam through Random Media
Prof. Kedar Khare, Dept. of Physics & Prof. Jayadeva, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT DelhiFeb, 2017 - Present- Devised a novel method of using a robust engineered beam to give better real time imaging through random scattering media. Employed Laguerre-Gaussian beam modes in cross polarization to generate the beam
- Conducted extensive simulations modeling the thick diffuser and observing the quality of the combined beam after propagation
- Performed experiments in lab and proved through SNR measurement that the combined beam had better beam retention compared to the widely used Gaussian beam
- Combined beam was found to be robust to variations caused by scattering and time varying phase fluctuations due to the complementary nature of its component LG beams
Scene Adaptive Cosmetic Makeup Transfer
Prof. Prem Kalra, Dept. of Computer Science, IIT DelhiAug, 2017 - May, 2018- Working on developing a system that will be able to put make-up and other accessories on face image
- 3D morphable models used to transfer makeup from an example onto subject image to get back 2D image
- Work is also under progress where we will add accessories in 3D first so that they blend perfectly in the scene and look natural when the resulting 2D image is obtained
- Also implemented an existing old version of the problem solution - Digital Face Makeup by Example to see results
Depth Resolution Enhancement in Time-of-Flight Cameras
Prof. Mukul Sarkar, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT DelhiAug, 2015 - Mar, 2018- Presented a novel method for reducing depth measurement error using polarization state of reflected light
- Transmission angle of the linear polarizer was varied for a fixed object distance from camera. Sinusoidal variations were observed for depth error with clear maxima and minima
- It was observed that the depth error was minimum when polarization angle was equal to ToF phase shift
- Experimental results showed error reduction of upto 87% for 3000mm distance
Template Matching & Object Carving
Digital Image AnalysisSept, 2017 – Oct, 2017- Implemented seam carving which could attain content-aware stretching and cropping of an image
- Extended the method to remove objects detected through template matching done in Fourier domain
- Additionally used generalized Hough Transform for retaining and eliminating specific shapes in the image
Content Aware Face & Sky Enhancement
Digital Image AnalysisJuly, 2017 – Aug, 2017- Detected face skin pixels and adjusted the bimodal histogram formed when there is shadow on face thus resulting in visually better photos having faces
- Sky detection was then done followed by cloud-sky decomposition where the clouds where made more white and sky assigned sky blue color to given better visual experience
- Saliency enhancement was also done later followed by detail enhancement
Creation and Rendering of Complex Climbing Plants
Computer GraphicsMar, 2017 – May, 2017- Implemented a climbing heuristic to render climbers on required objects in a scene to enhance content creation in computer graphics applications
- Built a graph which is a minimal abstract representation of plant for production of leaves and branches
- Traversed the nodes in graph with geometry with materials and textures that can be rendered finally
Hierarchical Modeling and Animation of a Frog
Computer GraphicsMar, 2017 – Apr, 2017- Modeled a frog to be represented as a hierarchical model with an articulated structure
- Created animation module by interpolating key frames with diffuse, specular and ambient components
- Made an interactive game with multiple frogs which run behind use controlled insects
Ray Tracing
Computer GraphicsMar, 2017 – Apr, 2017- Implemented recursive ray tracing to generate an image of virtually generated 3D model by tracing path of light through pixels
- Implemented global illumination model with reflection, refraction & shadows and local illumination model with diffuse, specular and ambient components
KAZE Features extraction
Computer VisionSept, 2017 – Oct, 2017- Realized 2D feature detection & description algorithm in nonlinear scale spaces using nonlinear diffusion filtering
- Nonlinear scale space built using Additive Operator Splitting (AOS) and variable conductance diffusion
- Feature Detection was done using Hessian at multiple scale levels and Feature Description was done using SURF descriptors
Ajna: Online restaurant menu portal for Visually Impaired
Jan, 2016 – May, 2016- Designed in a team of 4, a secure web portal that allows restaurant owner to upload menu on cloud
- Developed UI for menu navigation Android app which links to menu uploaded on scanning printed QR code
- Tested the prototype at National Association for Blind (NAB)
- The project was selected at Open House, IIT Delhi 2016 having a footfall of 10,000+
SAMSUNG Research Institute Bangalore
Summer Intern under Rajiv Chintala, Senior Engineer, SRI-BMay, 2017 – July, 2017- Created the framework and User Interface of GIF Creator Application in Samsung’s Tizen Platform
- Built an application framework and corresponding UI that lets user play and trim a video of desired length
- Key frames were selected from video & their resolution was reduced by interpolation to finally convert to GIF
- The Application would be launched in the Tizen Store in the coming update of Tizen Platform
