Today we worked on making our field notebooks. We use the materials given to us (construction paper, suing needle/thread, and sketchbook paper). This was harder than I expected! I didn't think enough about make it look neat because I was worried about doing it correctly and keeping up with the class. I'm a bit disappointed that all the pages don't lineup, it looks really messy to me. I kinda wish I could start over but I honestly struggled with remembering the order that the binding process went in and I don't think I could do the binding correctly if I tried to do it again. I’m excited to add the design to the front though! I get to see my favorite animal every day!
During the building process I felt very unsure if it would spin. I don't have a lot of experience with engineering and I had a really hard time securing the cloud to the motor. It was always too heavy and caused the motor to either spin oddly or the whole thing would tip over. Honestly I didn't even think it would stand up at one point long enough to spin. However I am really proud of myself for getting it to stand up that felt like a big accomplishment when I finally figured it out. If I were to continue working on this or do it again I would add more packing peanuts so the cloud is 3-D and it looked more like it's inspiration.
In this art project I didn't think I would have any problems because I had done embroidery before. Boy was I wrong! Despite the book mark being visually appealing it didn't work something was wrong with the circuit. This project was really disappointing.
Some of my favorite pictures from my walk, especially the hopscotch. There's something about children's games that really speaks to me, I think it's because they have survived being passed down from generation to generation and inspire such a pure form of joy.
Creating digital art was not my strong suit and I struggled with these two projects a lot but I'm proud of what I made because I didn't think I'd be able to make anything at all honestly.
I made an animal representation and an avatar but I forgot to take pictures day of and couldn't get back into the class unfortunately.
I had a lot of fun creating this art! I really enjoyed thinking back to my walk and looking through the different pictures I had taken. From the neighborhood cat to some gorgeous pink flowers all the way to stonework put into the ground I had the opportunity to think about the different things I saw in Isham park. Making the circuits wasn't terribly hard, but getting them to stay working was a little bit more difficult. I found that the circuits were really finicky which made it hard to get photos and videos of the art.
I had a ton of fun making this project with Rob S. We worked really well together and his exacto knife skills are next level! I was really happy with our end product and the makey makey I think perfect complimented our vision.
