Thus, the main reason that touched the hearts of the officials of the then, Department of Education, Culture and Sports, Sta. Maria District, headed by the late Supervisor Mr. Andres Somera, who worked hand in hand with the late Municipal Councilor Placido Domingo, in cooperation with officials, residents and other concerned citizens of Barangay Ag-agrao to establish a Barangay High School.
Their collaborative efforts and sacrifices succeeded when generous, kind-hearted and God-fearing people allocated 5,400 square meters for the construction of the school. Hence, the former Barangay High School, initially started its first level, a bamboo-built classroom in 1978, a year after the other, until four levels were completed in 1982.
Now, Ag-agrao National High School, located at the eastern part, 2 kilometers from the town proper of Sta. Maria, has gradually gained its academic competence and performance because of its active participation in the division, regional and national trainings, seminars and competitions and activities. Such ample accomplishment, greatly inspired the DepEd officials, stakeholders, benefactors, alumni, parents, government and non-government organizations to expand its services, thus constructed more rooms and facilities to accommodate more students from adjacent barangays- Gusing, Penned, Baballasioan, Butir, Laslasong Sur and some far-flung Barangays of the Municipality of Narvacan.
The school has undergone significant metamorphosis since its genesis. The workforce of the academe is headed by a Head Teacher III, six (6) Teacher III, two (2) Teacher II, and five (5) Teacher I, who are equally competent, passionate, and committed in sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Ag-agrao National High School transformed its students locally and globally in its own little way! ANHS will remain to be the beacon of hope and strength to the whole community.
