Announcing New Private Peer Support Services
Please read my current personal Wellness Recovery Action Plan
#BridgeTheGap in Mental Health for Men.
This is the bridge I'm building to get over it. Wellness Recovery is possible, and it's incremental. It's my #incrementalhealth as I #buildAbridge to #getoverit. Of course it's going to require tools, a toolkit, and some great supports. I can be a #bridger instead of #THEbridge and remember I don't have to focus on solutions for everything. I can focus on the task at hand. My Personal Wellness.
06/12/2019: Found a possible trustable bridge to free wellness support. I was really lucky my Brother saw me hurting and kept reaching out to make sure I knew I wasn't alone, or invisible. He also has fears, and lived experiences. Luckily his partner is smarter than both of us :)

Hi ***** and *****,
Thanks *****, for giving your info and agreeing to getting this email. I'm pretty open about my struggles about mental health, and have been enduring some pretty bad abuses through my employer. In the last few months, I've struggled to get services or therapy because I'm in between the targets. I have trauma (from childhood), and long term abuse, that's really been undiagnosed and untreated for years. You can imagine how challenging it is to find service that isn't further damaging.
I've had all the therapy one can handle in a lot of ways, but have also found really big successes through and anxiety skills workshop and I co-facilitated a mens body image workshop too, plus other events and skills workshops through Max Ottawa, and I participate with Masculinity Under Construction, a grassroots group of guys bettering their understanding of the impact men have.
One of the biggest successes I've had personally, is when I can create an argument with myself to push through my anxiety to seek resources, is to find someone I trust, then ask them what they know about something, and go from there.
In this case, I know I've known ***** 2 years, he's always been consistent, he's weighed in on my social media posts, and I tell myself he has no agenda so can't hurt me. Therefore, his wife should be a safe resource because he wouldn't marry a monster. LOL odd logic but it helps me. Getting your opinion means I can move my internal conversation forward.
I've heard about PSO through a number of different contacts, but it seems scary to me because clinical stuff, or office environments really make me uncomfortable and invisible. I can't think of anyone I can ask to escort me to these things (although a guy I knew a long time ago reached out too saying he's done stuff there), but I thought if you just shared your overall impression of the place, the environment, ease of use, etc, then I can work up my bravery and try it.
I hope that made sense, I'm so nervous asking. I wanted to include ***** on the email out of respect (as I always hesitate to share other's contact info) so transparency was key.
Hope I didn't ramble,
Angus
(Thanks again!)

Good Morning Paul,
I'm writing to see if I could be considered for help funding this resource to add to my current treatments with Dr. Morrison. Like the self lead depression module, this resource is well proven to be helpful for people in my situation. I know it would be incredibly helpful as a tool for tackling the series of issues I'm having in my workplace, and making a plan to return.
Thank you,
Angus

This is a Wellness Recovery Action Plan I've developed since October 2019 and am proud to say I am also a Certified WRAP Facilitator, Peer Supporter, Activist, and many other things besides what #stigma and those who benefit from it would lead me to believe. I discovered WRAP through beginning to do this instinctually, to document my success. Why reinvent, when you can reuse, and reinvent? I am valuable. So are you.
My name is Angus Wright, and I have successfully managed Borderline Personality Disorder, and am on the path to recovering to my full potential.
Of course it's all about me... it always is.
