No knitting skills necessary!
We welcome any person, group, or organization, except fascists and agitators, to join us!
This is a grass roots, collaborative effort, brought to you by several volunteers among multiple community led groups and organizations, to make Daniella Mestyanek Young, aka Knitting Cult Lady's fabulous idea of an angry knit-in happen, and to further our collective vision of distributed, matriarchal empowerment of local community organizations in mutual aid.
Read the following before engaging with this online community.
This is a public server created and maintained by volunteers on the Angry Knit In Organizing Team.
We have discussed; rules, agreements, guidelines, etc. among members of the server, the volunteer team, and others. While there are many directions we could go in creating agreements together, we are reminded of a crucial element of group dynamics - labor exploitation. Within the organizing team Daniella always reminds us that we are unpaid volunteers with lives and not to extend past what we have committed to or are confident and fulfilled doing. The following server guidelines are a reflection of what we as volunteers agreed to support and the limitations of what we are able to offer. As we grow and coalesce, the goal and limitations may also grow. Until then this is what we are offering if you would like to participate.
Thank you, Angry Knit In Volunteer Team

Free DC is a movement led by the people of the District of Columbia to win dignity for our communities and exert our right to self-determination. For too long, the people of DC have been prevented from fully governing ourselves in ways that are deeply and fundamentally unjust. We are no longer willing to accept this and building the cultural and political power it will take to win.
