I have always admired the process of teaching and learning foreign languages. From my perspective, students must be at the centre of these complex processes, developing both academic and personal skills conducive to a modern and, overall, fair society.
I hold a B.A. and a PhD. in English Philology and a M.A. in Teacher Training for Secondary Education and Language Teaching which I completed in 2009 and 2010, respectively, at the University of Murcia. I started my research in 2014 at the Department of English Philology at the same university. My research interests are aimed at: cognitive linguistics, corpus, construction grammar, political discourse, communicative shared attention, frameworks, multimodality, speech, bilingualism and contrasting study. Currently, we are working with the UCLA Red Hen Laboratory. Additionally, I have presented papers and lead workshops about teaching and learning languages at the Universities of Murcia, Navarra, Complutense and Pontificia Comillas in Madrid and for Cambridge University Press. Moreover, I am a member of AJL, AELCO and ICLA associations. Lastly, in 2017, I was awarded and named the most productive teacher of the year .
I started my teaching career with private lessons over 15 years ago. Afterwards, in 2010, I was hired as a teacher of modern languages, including English, Spanish and French at SJV High School. Since then, I have been promoted from head of Cambridge ESOL exams, to the head of both foreign languages and bilingualism seminars. We also achieved an Erasmus + exchange project with a French school in 2018. Furthermore, I have worked as a Cambridge ESOL speaking examiner/supervisor since 2013 for the University of Cambridge, and as an associate professor for the University of Murcia since 2018.
