I use an integrative approach to counselling combining both Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Doing this allows us to tailor our sessions to your particular needs. It also allows us to equip you with a 'tool box' of coping techniques that you can use at any time.
Our first session together will be my opportunity to find out lots of information about why you have come to counselling so please don't be surprised if I ask a lot of questions.
From session two onwards, your counselling sessions are just that - your space to talk about whatever you want to. You decide what we are going to discuss. If you don't know what to talk about I will choose something that you have mentioned previously.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between us is the foundation for our work together, so I will always treat you with respect and empathy, listening without judgement, and ensuring that you feel heard.
The number of sessions is up to you. It may be that you want a set or open ended number of weekly sessions, or you may want to just 'touch base' once a month - it is entirely up to you.
