Updates & News

Summer 2023

I had the fantastic opportunity to intern at Microsoft Research this summer! I worked with Dr. Amanda Hall, Dr. Ashley Mae Conard, and Hope Twede on developing an AI assistant to support genetic professionals in analyzing whole genome sequencing data for rare disease diagnosis.

May 2023

Two new papers accepted at ACM DIS 2023: (1) a full paper on supporting awareness of dynamic data in clinical checklists and (2) a work-in-progess paper about designing computerized support for decision making about life-saving interventions.  I am also excited to be selected to participate in the Doctoral Consortium at DIS!

December 2022

Two new papers accepted! First, our paper, "Transitioning Cognitive Aids into Decision Support Platforms: Requirements and Design Guidelines" was accepted by the ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction (TOCHI) Journal. Second, our case study, "Near-Live Simulations to the Rescue: Lessons Learned from Using Alternative Simulation Approaches for Evaluating New Technologies", was accepted at ACM CHI 2023!

November 2022

I was invited to speak at PhillyCHI's World Usability Day, where I gave a talk titled "Developing Decision Support Features for Cognitive Aids Used During Time-Critical Medical Work: Challenges and Design Opportunities".  Thank you to PhillyCHI for organizing this event -- it was so nice to meet with other HCI researchers in the area!

Summer 2022

This summer, I was a UX Research Intern on the Infectious Disease team at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. I conducted an exploratory study to better understand a group of potential product users for a genomic epidemiology analysis tool.  After conducting a research prioritization workshop and nine semi-structured interviews, I proposed three product recommendations to key stakeholders.
