Bio: Aneta Lisowska is an Assistant Professor in AI and Health at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Amerdam UMC, where she develops AI methods for digital health interventions and clinical decision support tools.Aneta's research journey began in Scotland, where she obtained a BSc in Computing and Cognitive Science from the University of Dundee and completed an industrial doctorate at Toshiba Medical Visualization System Europe and Heriot-Watt University. After obtaining her Doctorate, she joined the AI team at Canon Medical Research Europe, where she worked on AI methods for text and medical image analysis. She delivered numerous patents utilizing deep learning methods in healthcare applications and led research projects focused on Active and Continual Learning.
Having worked for over 6 years in the medical industry on AI clinical diagnostic tools, Aneta decided to shift the focus of her research towards designing AI-based applications for ubiquitous mobile devices. At Poznań University of Technology, she developed machine learning models for personalized coaching, with a particular focus on ML-based approaches supporting patients with treatment adherence and the development of positive health habits. At the Sano Center for Computational Medicine, she worked on chronic illness prevention applications and led a study investigating how to leverage machine learning for increased engagement with mobile and wearable health applications.
In late 2022, Aneta obtained an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, and in 2024 she assumed a position at VU Amsterdam, where she is embedded into the Quantitative Data Analytics group at the VU as well as the Cancer Center Amsterdam of the Amsterdam UMC, aiming to facilitate the transfer of AI research into clinical practice.
