I chose the name Anemoia because it means “nostalgia for a time you’ve never known”, which I believe exactly describes my style and aesthetics that I am drawn to.My name is Felice McDaniel, founder of Anemoia Crafts. I am based in rural Kentucky, where I have lived all my life. My dedication is to living creatively, and encouraging others to do the same! I love working on new projects and helping people on their journey to turn their creative dream into reality. My goal is to design and make items that allow people to feel their best by bringing them joy and confidence.I have been making art for as long as I can remember, and have spent several years fine-tuning my painting, drawing, sculpting, sewing, crocheting, knitting, etc. I earned my Associates in Visual Arts at my local community college, which has given me a different outlook on life through the lens of living creatively. I learned my first stitches at age five, and have worked on this skill off and on for several years, and I am completely self-taught in the art of sewing. I am deeply inspired by costume portrayed in shows and movies, particularly historical genres. And over the years, I have developed the ability to create my own patterns based off reference pictures to create my own version of a costume or outfit. I struggled for a long time feeling as though my art, or anything that I made, was not going to be good enough to share with others. I was always very hesitant to push myself to live out my potential and share my work with others. This has changed through a long journey of self-reflection, growth, and healing. Today, I am more confident that people will love what I make, especially the custom unique things I make for them.Through Anemoia Crafts, I am becoming more and more the person I feel I am meant to be, and I hope to encourage others to feel the same!
