Welcome to my gallery! If you’re reading this, you've stumbled upon Anemoia by Tasha Meeks. After some thoughtful exploration, I chose this name for my collection because it perfectly captures the essence of these photographs. Anemoia refers to "nostalgia for a time you've never known," a concept that resonates deeply with the spirit of my work. Each image invites a sense of longing, transporting you to places you’ve never been and may never see. Whether it’s cows running freely across a grassy field, the rushing waves of the Cosumnes River, or the winding backroads of Jackson Road, these moments are captured with deep reverence.
As a vegan with a strong commitment to animal rights and reducing my carbon footprint, my empathy for animals and the environment significantly influences my work. This consciousness shapes the way I see and capture the world around me, allowing me to appreciate the subjects of my photos on a deeper level. Every image not only represents the beauty of the landscape but also my dedication to advocating for a more compassionate and sustainable world.
Many of these photos were taken along the scenic backroads near my small neighborhood, tucked away just two miles from the Amador County line in Sacramento County. For years, these images rested forgotten on old SD cards buried in a drawer. Now, they’re getting a second chance to be shared with the world. In a sea of endless images, words, and ideas, I thought it was worth offering my contribution in the hope that they may resonate with someone, just as they have with me.
After years of being hidden away, I’m excited to finally bring them to light and share them with you.
