I participate in the IAC's project "Talk to Them: Women in Astronomy": an IAC initiative that aims to make visible the work of women in Astronomy-Astrophysics, while offering girls inspiring models to promote their scientific and technological vocations. It consists of videoconferences with educational centers by women astrophysicists and engineers who work at the IAC and at other institutions present in the Observatories of the Canary Islands, in which they explain their work, talk about their field of research and answer students' questions about the scientific and technological careers, the Universe or the methods we use to get to know it better.
Here is the announcement of one of the online talks I delivered to an institute in Brazil:
Ciclo de Palestras - Colégio Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia- 7th November 2023
Space Bus France is a project to bring Astronomy closer to general public in different cities of France. When I was doing my Ph.D. at the Observatoire de Paris, I worked as a volunteer for a week in August 2018 in the South of France, passing through the villages of Agde, Aigues-Mortes, Bezouce, Pujaut et L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
I was volunteer for several years in the "UFRGS Portas Abertas" ("Open Doors") day ay my university in Brazil. This is a day when final year high school students visit the university and its different departments. We usually organized activities to explain the Astronomy & Astrophysics concepts and to discuss what are the path of the profession. I participated both in the UFRGS planetarium and the Astronomy Department.
2009 was the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009) due to the 400 years that Galileo Galilei first used a telescope for astronomical observations. To celebrate the IYA2009 , the Museum the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) had an exhibition called "Em casa, no Universo" (At home, in the Universe). I worked for a year as a museum assistant, guiding the public and schools through the different rooms and Astronomical wonders!
I first started as a volunteer in the Projeto Selene at the Planetário Professor José Baptista Pereira of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). In 2008 I got a scholarship in science outreach to continue the activities of sky observations once weekend per month and daily welcoming of public and schools at the planetarium. We also organized several activities and workshops, for example (only in Portuguese):
How was the sky when you were born? (Google Scholar link)
Light and telescopes (Google Scholar link)
Which rank would you give to the night sky in your city? And what story would you tell? - XXVII Seminário de Extensão Universitária da Região Sul - Santa Maria, RS. Workshop for elementary school children "Que nota você daria para o céu da sua cidade? E que história você contaria?" to raise awareness of sky pollution and to introduce the native Brazilian constellations.
An interview I gave in 2009 (link) about the Projeto Selene.
