As a artist I have found that the conception of most of my ideas for my art can probably be found in my roots. Growing up in Northern Canada, and exposed to the fragility of nature from a very young age, I think I always felt that I must find a way to make a difference, and my contribution would be expressed through my art.
My objective and approach to my art is to convey the tranquility, excitement and violence of nature. The beauty of our world is a paradox to life itself. Such magnificent beauty is vulnerable and at the mercy of human intervention. My art reflects this through the hard physical and often labour intensive mediums of steel and bronze. My struggles have permeated the manifestations of my work. I feel compelled to push the envelope and create totally original art through innovative techniques and applications. I feel I am not just creating incredible sculptures for future generation to enjoy, but making art history in the process.
