When educators come together and share their vision for powerful, transformational schools, we can make change possible. My vision for HEA is to achieve exactly that for our members through effective organizing, empowered membership, and visionary leadership. I have seen HEA achieve this kind of success over my time here in Hillsboro, and I know we have a future ahead of us filled with greater possibilities. Our wins at the bargaining table, our wins for members in our buildings as reps, and our wins at the ballot box show something undeniable: when HEA stands together, we are a force to be reckoned with!
My experiences with HEA have taken me on a journey as a building representative, an Executive Board member, and as a Statewide and National voice for Hillsboro educators. In the course of my work, I can tell you that I have demonstrated passion, knowledge, curiosity, and determination. My vision for our local is to become a powerful organizing union, lifting up educators and platforming their voices, and giving emerging leaders a chance to shine. Whether it’s addressing overcrowded and under-resourced classes, unbalanced caseloads and sky-high paperwork demands, or advocating for safety in our buildings, I believe that the only way we can possibly make the change our kids and members need so urgently is to unite together in solidarity.
It's time for HEA. It's time to organize!
