My academic journey, rooted in Hong Kong, has led me to explore the fascinating intersection of sport, health, and society. Beginning with a BA (Hons) in Liberal Studies Education (First Class Honours) from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), I pursued an MA in Sociology at the University of Warwick, investigating the relationship between sports participation, social class, and cultural capital. This interest deepened during my PhD (Warwick, 2022), where I examined the complex phenomenon of sporting naturalization in Hong Kong football and its implications for understanding national, racial, and ethnic identities.Â
After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Academy of Hong Kong Studies, I was awarded an RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2024 and joined the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies at EdUHK. My research interests span the sociology of sport, encompassing social stratification, health inequalities, race and ethnicity, social inclusion, sport for development and peace, sporting nationalism, and sports development in Hong Kong.
