Welcome to my portfolio. I'm a composer, musician, and educator with a passion for creating and sharing music across diverse mediums. Since the 1990s, I've composed original music for TV and film, with commissions from broadcasters including the BBC, Granada, and The History Channel, as well as independent filmmakers.
As a performer, I began as a keyboard player in Manchester’s indie scene, performing with The Italian Love Party on Tony Wilson’s Factory Too label, followed by The Fever Van in the early 2000s. Today, I play and arrange for The Bowie Lounge, a multimedia reinterpretation of David Bowie’s work, where I continue to explore new ways of blending performance with artistic expression.
In addition to my career as a composer and performer, I have over two decades of experience in education. I started teaching Music and Media at City College Manchester in the 1990s and now lead the A Level Music program at Truro and Penwith College. My teaching focuses on nurturing creativity, technical skill, and a deep understanding of music’s role in the modern world.
With a Diploma in Popular Music and Recording from Salford College of Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Composition from Salford University, and an MA from Falmouth University, my work is grounded in both technical expertise and a forward-thinking approach to music creation and education. 2016-2018, MA in Creative Practice (awarded with Distinction) from Falmouth University. I developed my interest in the use of music in site specific locations, which in turn led me to develop an interest in "locative music". This involved making a series of interlinking compositions which could be accessed via a mobile app (audioroam) through GPS technology. Located at Pendennis Point in Falmouth, you can either listen in the location or in armchair mode. See my Showreel page.
