Do we really make your own decisions

Growing up we make a lot decisions big or small sometimes these choices are good for us but sometimes it also costs us something. That is why we usually ask someone who has done something similar to what we are doing because they have more experience or as we all them "experts". One example is when we are going to places most of the time we seek advice from experts. But most of the time we rely on the internet scrolling through long lists of people sharing their experiences and recommending us places where we could stay where to eat. Though estimates say 20 percent of comments posted on these reviews are fake.

People are experts on their own thing but we either accept or reject others even though these people that we reject people who are experts in what they do. Especially economic experts not to many people trust them the only reason we trust an expert is when something is outside of our understanding. Some studies argue that experts need three characteristics : expertise, integrity, benevolence. So just having lots of knowledge about something isn't going to be enough for you to be heard. Experts also use a lot of complicated words which is hard for some people to understand what they are saying or writing. Another problem is that most experts blame the public for not listening instead of them demonstrating or proving that they are good to gain the publics interest and trust.

Based from what I have read experts are people who are good in their field. And these experts are the reason we make some of our own choices because we know nothing compared to these experts in their field. But in my opinion when we are making our choices we should really just search for the information online but be careful of false sites or recommendations if we are travelling we should just ask locals about the information we need.

The factory

I make my way towards the hole in the fence. It's overgrown with vines and leaves. This is one of the many entrances to, an abandoned factory located in the middle of the woods that my friends and I often frequent. The gravel path to the factories is covered with brown leaves, and I struggle to keep from slipping as I walk. By now all the trees are leafless, which helps me see farther down the path. I approach my destination, an empty parking lot in the woods, and sit.

The parking lot starts to appear from behind the trees. It is littered with broken glass and empty beer bottles from teenagers who come down here to drink. Every few hundred yards there are electricity poles, their wires broken and blowing in the wind like weeping willow trees. I sit in the empty parking lot surrounded by barren trees; I am in a dead, concrete jungle.

This place was once teeming with life, but now it is all but empty.

From this spot I can see everything. The roofs of seven abandoned buildings create an industrial skyline from where I sit. A bulldozer stands where a building once was. The sun is beginning to set and the windows of the buildings are giving off a powerful glare. The sky is a mix of oranges and reds, straight out of a painting. The clouds are motionless and seem to be waiting for the sun to set, so they can go to sleep.

Narrative

One day a man came home drunk late at night he decided to go to bed and sleep. During his sleep he saw weird flashy light before waking up and seeing his room had the all the original furnishing which he had replaced. As he looked at his phone he realizes that it’s the same exact date as to when he moved into the house. He then questions himself “what did I drink last night” he then says “this could not be the present”. He looks outside the window to see himself parking up outside the house. He then waits by the door and punches his past self thinking that this is all a prank. His past self is just as surprised as he is. As his past self spits out a tooth he feels like as if he lost his own tooth after checking to see if he has his teeth he finally realized that he is back in the past. After apologizing to himself both of them decided to sit down.

After a bit his past self asks him as to what has happened in the future and how he got there. After explaining what happened to his past self he asks his past self if he knows how he can get back to the present. His past self responds with “I’m you but younger how should I know your older”. There was a moment a silence afterwards and so they decided to brainstorm ways on to how he can get back to the present. The first thing they thought of is to do the same exact thing he did the night before so they bought the same bottle of beer. The next morning as he woke up he realizes that it is still the past so they both watched a movie about time travel and a sci-fi documentary about time travel just to end up sleeping. When he woke up he finally realizes that he is back at the present. After writing about his story and sharing it on the internet he became famous. But many thought it was fake and he was just a writing a story but some shared their own experience about them going through something similar some saw him as a madman. But how he got back to the past still bothers him to this day.

Is a phone a camera?

“Photography has always depended on technology, and every technology change has affected the history of photography, but the smartphone, in its nature, is a device that is not for photography. It’s a device that is for communication,”

-Henry Jacobson-

“But the smartphone, in its nature, is a device that is not for photography”. The question is why is it still used to take pictures and why does it have a camera. But Henry Jacobson also has a point saying that the smartphone is a device for communication when phones were first used it was only used for well communicating with others far away over time it got smaller and lighter it also came with more and more features.

I have to disagree with smartphones only being a communication device because I think if something could be used for multitasking why not. Smartphones can now be used for playing video games watching videos online and even looking at pictures that we’re probably taken from someone’s phone and it looks stunning. With a phone taking a simple picture takes just a few seconds when you use a camera you’re going to take some time focusing it and preparing it just to take a few pictures and put it back in its bag with a phone all you have to do is reach into your pockets.

I also have to agree with the fact smartphones are a communication device since the start that was the intention of the smartphone. If you look back old phones didn’t have any cameras on them just a few applications but people mostly used them to talk with people far away. And if you compare a picture taken from a phone and one from a smartphone the result would be obvious the quality from the camera would look much better.

In conclusion I think it all really depends on your opinion do you want to use your phone or camera to take a picture. It doesn’t really matter to me what was used to take the picture a camera a phone if it can take a good or decent quality if it takes a picture its magic to me. Other than that I see no major difference from taking a picture form a phone and a camera.

Happy Future charity

Dear supporter,

Every single person around the world have the rights and they also have their everyday need. But some people don't get most of their everyday needs just because of poverty some people don't care but some do and have you ever felt bad seeing children in the streets trying to sell something just to try and make a living. Some people around the world are struggling and I think we should remember that there are people then just the ones we see. And i think with our help these people can have happier lives

There are lots and lots of people without the proper education in the streets all around the world and they are they are also suffering from starvation. in every single place we go there would not be a single minute where we would not see someone trying to make a living trying to sell things such as newspapers, and other things.

And so these types of problems are the reason and foundation for the Happy Future charity in the hopes of a happy and brighter future keeps us on going. Every week we would go around the city giving people free healthcare, food and some money to help them. During that time all the donations given to us are all well spent and your help and our action many people are getting the help they need.

We hope that one day you could also help us financially or become part of the team. As Mother Teresa once said "if you can't feed a hundred people ,then just feed one. And for those who have helped us we look forward to more participations between us Thanks you.

Yours faithfully,

A Short Holiday

A memoir by Andrew

Finally, after an entire week of waiting for school to finish, I was finally back in my mother’s hometown my favorite place to visit standing there in front of my cousin's large house just waiting for them to open the door. After the door was opened I came inside went upstairs and went to bed after an 8 hour long ride the next day I just stayed at home doing nothing more than sleeping and eating. The first week was not too much fun the only part I really liked was being able to go fishing but I never caught anything. But at the end of the day, I still enjoyed my time there everything about that entire week. I do wish it was longer even though it wasn’t the best it was still a great time

The second week was where the real fun begins the first day was a large family meet up I got to see a lot of my family members it has been an entire year since I last visited so it was very fun. The second day we went to the beach where I had a lot of fun as well. The third day I got chased by a dog while walking outside good thing there was no one to witness me getting chased when I got back I stayed quiet about it because of how embarrassing it was. At night when everyone was about to go out, I saw the do again this time I just stayed hidden. Day 3I overslept to 8 in the morning when I woke up everyone was still sleeping so I woke up and just went downstairs after waiting for a while I just ate and looked out just to see the dog again outside the gate and so I went back upstairs the rest of the day I spent on just playing around with my cousins. Day 4 nothing interested happen but for some reason, that day has got to be one of the happiest days for me even though nothing happened. Day 5it was the 31st of December 2019 so I woke up somewhere at night and went to the bathroom I started hearing fireworks which scared me half to death then I started hearing someone screaming from downstairs. Then the realization hit me it was 1, January 2020 and the screaming I heard was actually happy birthday it was my cousin's birthday.

The next day we went to PuncakLawang for her birthday on the way there a monkey snatched my sandwich everyone who saw that just laughed and I just laughed with them. After that embarrassing moment, we continued the ride at 11 am we finally reached PuncakLawang. We had already brought food so we all had lunch it was very windy and quite cold there for the middle of the day. After being there for a couple of hours we went to Bukittinggi we then went to the market and did some shopping and as usual, I see that it is very boring. After an hour we finally went to do other things on the way home I fell asleep and when we got there I woke up being very confused. And so on the next day, I and my family went back to Kerinci.

The abandoned building

Written By: Christopher Andrew Tjiaro

It was just a normal day nothing out of the usual. So Chuck decided to go around town he brought some friend with him after walking around they saw an abandoned building with everyone agreeing to go in. But as soon as they got in they knew something wasn't right but their curiosity pushed them in deeper and deeper. They soon started hearing the sounds of chains moving around.

As bad as they wanted to get out something pushed them in deeper and deeper. They started seeing signs of human activity but all that they saw were medical equipment syringes, hazmat suits, and many other things. Chuck and his friends said its best to get out of the building now. But then they heard the sound of the chains getting louder his friends thought why don't we get in deeper just a little bit more, Chuck only said curiosity killed the cat. They decided to get something to protect themselves and used their phone to light up the way.

As they got in deeper and deeper they heard a small screeching noise out of one of the rooms one of them decided to take a look. Only to find a man like figure standing on all four looking at them he was tied up using a chain so they decided to open the door and take a closer look. Chuck said there is a reason that that thing is tied up using chains. They decided to discuss about opening the door everyone decided to not open the door except Clarence. Everyone told him not to open it but he said what can go wrong and opened it that is when the figure truly showed it self it was a man but it had a horn coming out of its head long fingers with sharp nails.

It then dragged Clarence in to the room and all they heard was a scream everyone ran off no one knew which way is out as it chased them they heard even more and more noises they realized that that they were going in deeper and deeper. Closing in the door behind them and barricading it with everything they had it wasn't able to go into the room. After catching a breath they looked up and saw a sign that said human experimentation realizing that the building they went into was an abandoned lab they got scared the door they barricaded started to open. They then run and found a window they all decided to jump. They looked at the window one last time and properly saw what killed their friend it had black fur covering it a long neck horns and a the body of a man.

They soon told the police but the police told them to go home only when one of them showed the picture of the creature the police started to get serious. 10 police men went into the building armed. After a short moment they started hearing gunshots and when the police went out of the building only 6 of them came back carrying what was left of Clarence those who lived decided to stay quite about what happened.

Greatest Achievements

Andrew: Throughout your life what is your biggest achievement and how did you earn it?

Mesaya: My biggest and most cherished achievement is when I and my teammates won an entrepreneur competition. We somehow told that we won because of the out-of-the-box idea, which we made products and goods by recycling some unused items.

Andrew: Are you happy with all the accomplishments that you have obtained until now?

Mesaya: I am happy with all of my achievements because those were all achieved with my own willing and we're not forced by my close ones.

Andrew: What motivated you to do all of this?

Mesaya: It was all because to improve my potentials and skill that I know I have in me. I also had a motivation to at least have two trophies, and now I had five trophies and one medal so far.

Andrew: What is your intentions behind all of these achievements?

Mesaya: My intentions are to improve my skills, whether to improve my entrepreneur skills, my academic skills, my music skills, and even my leading skills.

Andrew: Do you still have anything else you want to achieve in life?

Mesaya: Yes, I do have other goals to achieve, such as: to have my college after graduating from high school, to join more music competition, and to join the student council organization

Andrew: Do you think all your achievements would help you in achieving your dreams?

Mesaya: I would think that all of my achievements that I had reached so far will help me to achieve my next dreams, because all of my achievements had helped me to sharpen the skills that I had inside me, such as my entrepreneur skills, my piano skills, or even my designing skills. With these skills, it can help me to reach my dream to someday open an aircraft manufacturer, or maybe to be a best pianist that can teach many students, or even to be a businessman.

Andrew: With all of your achievements do you think that you are doing enough to make everyone around you happy?

Mesaya: So far, my parents were proud of me, and my sister also liked to look upon me and I like to help her to improve her skills also. What I realized also that my friends here saw my potential as a great leader, and so I tried to improve my leading skills until now. All achievements were reached not only for myself, but also to be a bless for others. I tried also to not only keep my achievements for my own benefit, but I want it to be able to help others with it also. Inspiring another is one of the kind of helping people also.
