I am a Lecturer in Astrobiology in the School of Natural Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London, and a Research Associate in Earth Sciences at University College London (UCL) as part of the joint Birkbeck-UCL Centre for Planetary Sciences. I am the Progamme Director for Birkbeck's flagship MSc in Astrobiology as well as a Board Member of of the CPS and the Astrobiology Society of Britain (ASB).

Before joining Birkbeck/CPS, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Astronomy in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University of California, Irvine (2018-2021), and a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California within NASA's Nexus for Exoplanet System Science (NExSS) (2016-2018).

I completed graduate studies at the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Science at the University of East Anglia in the UK with a Ph.D in Biogeochemistry in 2015. 

I am also an (occasional) science writer and and I also make up one third of the Exocast podcast team.
