Teaching Philosophy
Active learning and the integration of technology are two new pedagogical strategies that are currently sweeping through the mathematics education community. I enthusiastically embrace these ideas, and have worked to incorporate them into my courses. However, as with all things, I try to practice moderation. As such, students in my class can expect to have some structured guidance in the form of short lectures, opportunities to work through problems and discuss ideas, and occasions for experimenting via technology. All of this (ideally) comes together to create a dynamic, mulitsensory learning experience that creates multiple elaborations for students to form connections between concepts in the course content and applicable "real-world scenarios".
