About me
I am a mathematician, and on this site you will find information about my activities as a mathematician. I also have another life as a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University. This is not my Queen's University website. Indeed, I do not have a Queen's University website. After 25+ years of being able to maintain a clunky but (I think) effective website, I (and my colleagues) were given the option of migrating to a University-wide platform with "pre-styled features and layout options." Um... no thank you. So here I am. I will work to make available as much of the content from my previous website as I can. Until I can do this, if you can think of something that you think I have and that you think you might want, contact me.
Content is accessed from the pull-down menu at the top right.
Research interests
My research interests have evolved during the course of my career. In my early career, I had an interest in geometric control theory and geometric mechanics. I still have a peripheral interest in geometric control theory, and a somewhat less peripheral interest in geometric mechanics. However, I had a protracted period where I was interested in topics in the intersection of functional analysis and differential geometry. Most recently, I have started thinking about Lie groupoids, Lie algebroids, and their applications.
