Andrew Chong UIUC

Andrew Chong UIUC was born in 1998 in Seoul, Korea, but spend most of his life in the United States. When he was two months old, his family moved to the U.S., where he grew up in Silicon Valley. Later on, when his father got an expat assignment, they moved to China, where Andrew formally started his education.

The family lived in Shanghai, and during this time he was exposed to various different cultures and ways of life, previously unfamiliar to him. Andrew Chong Illinois, attended the British Institutional School first, which held lots of social events scheduled throughout the year. The school holds events such as the Christmas Fair, Welcome Back Party, and the Food Evening.

The New Parent Programme was another one, especially relevant for Andrew Chong Illinois as it held informational sessions for families new to the school and the area. This Room Parent initiative was a fun way for new students and their parents to connect with the school life, so the transition into the new neighborhood was a smooth one for Andrew Chong Illinois.

Afterward, he attended the American middle school, which was also heavily focused on the community and social activities. Since Andrew Chong Illinois spent most of his education in multicultural environments, surrounded by people of various cultural backgrounds, it sparked his desire to explore the world.

He wanted to visit both famous and obscure countries, to experience their cultures, befriend the people, and learn about their ways. This altered perspective set Andrew Chong Illinois on the humanitarian path that he still follows to this date.
