I am Andrew Zhai, currently a Ph.D. student in Environmental Policy at the Nicholas School of the Environment and Sanford School of Public Policy, Duke University. I strive to monetize the social costs (returns) of biodiversity losses (gains), particularly how ecological disturbances, such as wildlife diseases and biological invasions, affect human well-being by integrating microeconomic theory, advanced econometric and geospatial techniques, and innovative datasets.
"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–82)
