I believe that these are two sides of the same coin. Collaboration is where you work with someone or a whole group in order to accomplish a task. Shared Leadership is where you put a specific focus on the strengths of all in your group as they take charge on different parts of a project.
This website was made to showcase the relation between environmental activism and racial relations. The creation of the site involved all members of the group being given a subject to focus on and then picking a topic that falls under that umbrella. We each gained a thorough understanding of our topic so that we can sufficiently research, write about, and share the information on the website that we created. My section of the website was on Environmental Racism & Justice
Along with members of my assigned group, we conducted research, had interviews with sources, and contributed various pieces of writing and graphics in order to create an article that appeared in this issue of The Husky Herald, the UW Bothell newspaper. We had to work closely together and compare our research notes in order to make sure we had a cohesive article to turn in that matched the standards of The Husky Herald. These assignments represent the progress of myself and my groupmates as we create a podcast centered around the topic of misinformation and disinformation in the media.
Different chains of thought come together in order to create a whole. I either do dedicated research to write an argument, or utilize alternative methods in order to display my point in an appealing and convincing manner.
Using a presentation, photos, and maps, I showcase my local community and how it prepares for climate change. Using words, statistics, and these photos/maps, I showcase how prepared my local community if for climate change and how it can improve in different areas to improve and become better.
One of my assignments was to create a Spotify playlist themed around a book called There, There. It was a different, and in my opinion, better medium to use music to describe the characters in my book, which was the route that I opted to go in terms of constructing this playlist. I had to take the time to examine each of the characters a find a song that fit them best.
For this project, I had to examine a historically significant photograph and examine its photographer, importance to the art, and the meaning behind why it was taken and what it represents. Combining critical and creative thinking was an important part of this project since I was thinking critically on the different aspects of this piece of art.
Utilizing my experiences, research, and knowledge to understand the experiences of marginalized groups and be able to work within them. My work is used to foster greater equity amongst these groups and develop the confidence to identify with them.
Me and my groupmates constructed a presentation focusing on the racial inequities in medicine centered around an article that focused on a certain form of care known as palliative care. The strategy of care the article talked about would allow researchers to better guide themselves in being more race conscious towards how they approached race relations in healthcare.
The research paper I wrote describes the importance of identity for Native Americans and how they have been oppressed over the years. In the paper, I examine different forms of oppression and stereotypes across the people and how they affect the identity of both adults and youth alike. As society continues to shift, it become important to rectify the mistakes of the past and ensure we understand how diversity applies to society today.
This research assessment was meant to showcase my understanding of how climate change looks like in Brazil. In different regions, climate change will affect the area differently. I also had to account for the different people within these regions as well. They will be affected as well as the region. They will potentially react differently based on their region and may have to fight for the climate rights of their region differently as well.
I utilize my skills and understanding of a given topic to conduct heavy research on it in order to formulate a cohesive argument around it. I find reliable information and then use it to construct an argument or thesis.
Using deep research, I had to construct a research paper on AI technology and the concept of digitally uploading your mind. Creating the paper, I had to help determine and understand the potential rights of those who upload their minds vs those who choose not to. I had to understand both the technology and potential as I wrote the paper.
Using research and an analysis of several sources, I had to write a research paper on creating a sustainable city. Through this research, I had to develop an understanding of sustainable movements, statistics on energy consumption within cities, and analysis of the practices of various companies. Doing so allowed me to present potential solutions to the problems presented by these “ecocidal” cities.
Using research into The New York Times and its various resources and articles, I had to examine its coverage of the Canadian Trucker Protests that were happening at the time to protest the mask mandates in Canada during the pandemic. I had to determine whether or not the NYT was following an ethical model that outlets like them must follow in order to be considered to be operating ethically.
I utilize various mediums to present an argument or topic such as writing, presentations, and film. The evidence I found through my research was used to help support the claims I made through my writing and explain how it may relate to them or other works.
For this class, I had to direct and film a suspense video under the guiding theme of ‘visualizing absurdity’. I was fully responsible for all aspects of creating this video and wanted to tell a story of someone become something else. This, I displayed through photos, sounds, and imagery.
For this project, my group had to create a theoretical app that would be used if humanity were to colonize Mars. The design we chose was a weather app. To support the creation of the app, we created a presentation to showcase our progress and thinking. These included creating theoretical colonists, creating mock-ups for how the app would work, considering the ethics of the app, creating a style for the app, and testing the app.
For this project, I had to write a report on the technology company Lenovo. This included looking into its history, corporate, and economical structure. I had to provide evidence and present my findings in both my report and through a visual medium.
