According to the Center for disease Control and prevention, in 2022 it was reported that there was nearly 1,000 deaths and 130,000 injured bicyclist around the United States due to collisions that occur between moving vehicles and on-road bicyclist.
My purpose for this project is to decrease the number of accidents that occur on the road between vehicles and bicycles by creating an alert system that notifies either, whenever one is near. A change that I am seeking to accomplish is hopefully seeing roads becoming more bike riding friendly and a decrease on the number of injuries and deaths in a car and bike collision accident.
About Me:
My name is Andrea Holguin, and I am a current senior attending Chapin High School. I have been involved in the Chapin Magnet Engineering Program my four years of high school. I have taken multiple challenging courses throughout my high school journey which has helped me prepare for my future goals. I first plan on attending El Paso Community College for my associates degree and proceed to transfer to the University of Texas at El Paso to complete my bachelors degree. Currently I am indecisive on what I really want to major in, but I am leading towards the engineering field. Currently my first choice is Industrial Engineering, but I am still considering. In my free time I like to volunteer at my church by taking care of the little kids and doing interactive activities with the young people which really helps improve my communicatin and creativity skills.
