Onboarding
Whole org asynchronous modules
I view effective onboarding as a foundation for long-term success, with the main goals being to help new team members build confidence, understand expectations, feel connected, and learn how the organization operates. These goals guide how I design onboarding systems that are supportive, intentional, and aligned with organizational values.
At The Educator Academy, I created a two-part onboarding process: whole-organization onboarding, focused on who we are and how we work, and role-specific onboarding, tailored to what each new hire needs to thrive in their role. I also developed an asynchronous online course to support the whole-org experience. View an overview of the modules below.
After reviewing staff utilization of benefits, I created a year long initiative to increase awareness and increase use of staff benefits through intentional communication and resources. This culminated in an internal website designed to make accessing information easy and efficient.
I led the development of the conference’s brand identity, designed its website, managed marketing, and coordinated logistics. This project showcased my strengths in project management, clear communication, and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, I created the structure for the project team to launch the conference. Explore the website by clicking the link below to see how the conference came to life.
After nearly a decade of evolution, Kansas City Teacher Residency had expanded beyond a teacher residency, and beyond the scope of Kansas City. I pitched the need for a rebrand to the board, managed the branding designer vendor, and the launch of the new brand.
I overhauled our approach to performance management by introducing role-specific job descriptions and linking performance metrics to organizational goals. This project also involved training and support for managers and staff to ensure the system was applied consistently and effectively. Read more about my approach to performance in my blog series.
Spotting What’s Missing
"Andrea has a natural talent for spotting what’s missing or unclear and asking the hard questions that help others."

Strategic insight
Operational Excellence
Deep Empathy
"Andrea is a powerhouse systems-thinker who transformed a high-revenue nonprofit by creating, formalizing and optimizing several areas of business from the ground up—onboarding, training, policies, staffing, and beyond.
Her rare combination of strategic insight, operational excellence, and deep empathy for both people and process made her an indispensable leader and earned her a well-deserved promotion to Director, where she successfully managed cross-functional direct reports. Fast, thoughtful, and solutions-focused, she’s the kind of unicorn every organization dreams of."
From Casey Born, Colleague
Strategic
& Deeply Human
"Working with Andrea in one word has been restorative. It is not very often that you have the privilege of working with someone as both a colleague and then as a manager who is both strategic and deeply human.
Andrea's exceptional communication skills and ability to navigate complex organizational challenges while keeping people at the center make her an invaluable operations and HR professional. Watching her work, whether she's streamlining processes or resolving team conflicts, is truly impactful and creates lasting positive change."

Creating Simplicity
Organized Effective
Project Management
"I have experienced firsthand Andrea's deft ability to manage stakeholders and engage them. She made sure to include all of the appropriate stakeholders in the project and managed the project schedule to ensure that they had appropriate time to provide content and feedback for their respective areas. This was not an easy task given the amount of stakeholders.
She made this very challenging task seem simple by the way she organized and managed the process. She consistently kept deliverables on time and provided everything that was asked for. When there were challenges, she brought thoughtful and creative ideas to the table as possible solutions. She worked diligently to keep the project on track. She was quite honestly the most prepared, organized and efficient project manager I have ever partnered with."

What I'm looking for: After six years at The Educator Academy, I'm transitioning out of the role to pursue work that aligns more directly with what energizes me most—HR and People Operations. Through experiences like leading onboarding, shaping policy, and driving employee engagement, as well as earning my SHRM-CP, I've realized that building strong people systems and culture is where I thrive. I'm now seeking a focused HR or People Ops role where I can deepen this work.
