Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)

I hold the position of Professor of Philosophy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil. I completed my Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Sheffield. My primary areas of teaching and research revolve around epistemology and the philosophy of mind/perception. Throughout my academic career, I have explored various topics including non-conceptual content, epistemic contextualism, and the works of John McDowell and Merleau-Ponty on perception, among other subjects.

I am currently conducting a research that focuses on erotetic approaches to knowledge and ignorance. Erotetic approaches refer to question-based or inquiry-based methods of understanding knowledge. In my book titled "Knowing What Things Are: An Inquiry-Based Approach" (Springer, 2022), I explore the application of this approach specifically to the knowledge of what things are (a species of knowledge-wh).

Currently, my focus is on developing an erotetic account of ignorance and examining how it relates to important social issues such as disinformation. My current research is funded by The Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and is part of the ongoing work of the REDD (Network for Studies on Democracy and Disinformation) project, of which I am one of the co-directors.
