Philosophy
Teaching is an essential part of my life. I strive to support students of any level on their way to fulfillment, encouraging a combination of perseverance, compassion, and self-awareness. The pillars of my philosophy are the following:
Active Learning—Interactive examples, open questions, and riddles stimulate curiosity and foster engagement.
Peer-to-peer collaboration—a support network can significantly boosts motivation and retention; it helps both struggling students and high-achievers.
Individualization—I regularly collect feedback to adjust to the students' needs, and provide more in-depth mentorship during office hours.
Structure—I split lessons in digestible sections, each one following the trajectory: motivation, explanation, guided example, interactive example.
Experience
In the last fifteen years, I have worked for educational projects in different roles:
Sessional instructor at the University of Victoria for Calculus II
Teaching Assistant to first-year courses in Linear Algebra, Analysis, Logic, and Combinatorics.
Full-time High School Teacher for a short period of time.
Private Tutor to dozens of students, from middle-school kids with disabilities to master students in mathematics.
Mentor and Coach for admission tests of selective Universities, such as Scuola Normale Superiore and University College of London.
Contributed Author to the STEM dissemination and learning platform Brilliant.org, creating the class "Equations in Number Theory".
Online Teacher for a Python Programming course as part of a workforce training program, organized by Generation Foundation.
