SEASON RECAP:

2023 was another successful season for the Huskies but these ladies had to work hard to overcome some struggles to finish strong. Nevertheless they earned a 3rd place finish in a tough Northwest Suburban Conference to the #4 and #5 ranked teams in the state. We began the season strong with a win over the reigning State Champion, Rosemount, in the opening match in Duluth but then went 3-2-1 to round out the first part of league play. They battled for two more conference wins and then ended the way we started with a 3-2-1 record but this time the two losses were by one goal against #5 Blaine and #4 Centennial. We were now battle tested and ready for playoffs.

Round 1 put us up against Coon Rapids who the ladies handled well and then we faced the #2 seed Blaine. This was one of the most complete team games that this program has ever seen. It took a total team effort; field players, bench players, coaches, and fans to get us through that game and it was fun to watch. Next up, #1 seed Centennial. We had never beaten Centennial in a Section tournament game since they joined our Section in 2019 and it was about time! This game was another fantastic display of total teamwork and grit and we came away with the 1-0 victory, Section Championship, and State Tournament berth.

On to the State Tournament and a first round date with Eagan. Through a steady rain the entire game, these ladies fought hard. We scored first with a blast from distance from senior Skylyn Jorgenson but then gave way to an incredible strike by Eagan to tie it up late. These ladies persevered and brought the game through overtime and on to PKs. With some stellar goalkeeping by senior Haley Mau and a no-miss streak of goals from Jorgenson, junior Addie Dobratz, senior Lauren Wright, and senior Brenna Hudson we sealed the deal and earned a date at US BANK Stadium! Next we drew the undefeated #1 ranked Edina in the State Semi-final. It was a tough loss to an amazing team but we regrouped and refocused that night and came back to win the 3rd place game 2-0 vs a tough Maple Grove.

We are so proud of these ladies and especially the seniors for a fantastic last season. We will miss you seniors!

Skylyn Jorgenson ('24), Dayna Stocke ('24) and Addie Dobratz ('26) were named to the MSHSSCA All-State teams as well as earned NWSC All-Conference honors along with Elizabeth Schmidt ('24). In addition, we had four more players recognized with All-Conference Honorable Mention awards: Audrey Swenson ('24), Alicia Hoffman ('24), Haley Mau ('24), and Cece Kostick ('24).

For the fourth year in a row the AGS program earned the MSHSSCA Gold Team Academic Award which recognizes programs that maintain a 3.75 GPA or higher. Our ladies collectively maintained a 3.83 average GPA.

This season we look forward to continuing to watch several of our players as they extend  their athletic careers at the collegiate level:
