VARSITY HEAD COACH
The 2019 season will mark Coach Griess’ sixth season as the Head Varsity Coach at Andover High School and her tenth season overall with the Huskies. In the past 3 years, Griess has led her team to it's first ever NWSC Conference Championship, three Section Championship games and back to back Section 7AA Championship titles and State Tournament appearances ('16-'17) including a 3rd place finish in State ('16); the highest finish of any Andover Girls Soccer team. Coach Griess has also been named the section 7AA Coach of the Year 3 years in a row ('16-'18) and this past season was voted MN State High School Soccer Coaches Association Class AA Coach of the Year.
The 2018 team had another stellar season. The year began with a championship trophy from the Great Northern Shootout in Duluth for the first time in school history and they finished 13-2-3; tying the record for fewest losses in a season. They set the record for most shutouts in a season with 13 and didn't allow a goal for 7 games straight. They scored 57 goals and only allowed a record low of 10 against; only 4 in conference play. They advanced to the Section 7AA Title game for the 3rd year in a row and spent every week of the season ranked in the top 10 of the coaches poll. In addition, they were in the top 10 in QRF from week 3 until the end when they finished #5 in both polls. For the third year in a row three of the players were named to the All-State team: Kai Gillespie '20, Kelsey Kallio '20 and Olivia Knoepfle '21. Kallio also earned All-Conference honors and All-Metro first team honors. While Gillespie and Knoepfle also earned All-Conference honors along with Jenn Bobaric '19, Anna Breffle '20, Emily Diemer '20, Ava Braun '21, Mariah Nguyen '21, Emilee Roseland '21, Kennedy Sanders '21, and Maria Stocke '21. With a slew of veterans vying for a spot on the roster, this 2019 season is full of promise.
Previously, Coach Griess spent four years as an Assistant Varsity Coach for the program and helped lead the team to back to back section championship games and their first ever Section 7AA Championship and State Tournament appearance in 2013.
Prior to Andover, Griess spent 15 years coaching at various levels including Loras College of Iowa and Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, HI. Coach Griess has also coached club teams in the North Metro and took her Arsenal FC team to back to back League Championships and State Tournament appearances. Griess currently holds a USSF National “E” license and Coerver Youth Diploma.
Griess played high school soccer in California and went on to play Division I soccer at The Colorado College where her team made two NCAA Final Four appearances. She continues to play soccer in a coed league.
Coach Griess is a math teacher and lives in Andover with her husband, Aaron, and has four kids Madison, McClain, Makena and MacIntyre.

VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH
Phil Peacock returns to the Huskies for his sixth year as the Varsity Assistant. Phil has 21 years coaching experience with both girls and boys teams at all levels and ages. He currently holds a USSF National “B” license, NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma, USYS National Youth License, Coerver Youth Diploma and the English Football Association Psychology in Soccer (Level 1). He has also been named Section 7AA Assistant Coach of the Year for 3 years in a row. ('16-'18)
Coach Peacock played for over 40 years, including semi-professionally in Australia. He resides in Lino Lakes with his wife, Sue, and has three children Ben, Luke and Katie.

VARSITY ASSISTANT/GOALKEEPER COACH
This will be Damon Fehringer's seventh year as the Varsity Assistant/Goalkeeper Coach for the Huskies. Damon has 18 years of coaching experience in girls soccer. Over the last 9 years, he has focused primarily on training goalkeepers. In the 2013 state tournament, two of the remaining eight teams started keepers trained by Damon. Coach Fehringer holds a USSF National "E" license, and plans to begin goalkeeper trainer certification soon.
Damon resides in Andover with his three daughters Shelby, Sierra, and Savannah.

ASSISTANT GOALKEEPER COACH
Shelby Fehringer will be returning to the Huskies in 2019 for her third season as an Assistant Goalkeeper coach. Shelby was the starting goalkeeper for the huskies in 2013 helping to lead the program to their first ever Section Championship and State Tournament appearance. After high school she played for the women's soccer team at St. Catherine University in St Paul. Now graduated Fehringer would like to continue her passion for soccer through coaching. Shelby plans to obtain her goalkeeper certification within the next year.

JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH
Dan Cowan is entering his seventh year as a coach in the Andover High School Girls Soccer Program. Coach Cowan brings with him 24 years of coaching experience and an unmatched familiarity with soccer in the North Metro area. He played youth soccer for Blaine and North Metro and high school soccer at Spring Lake Park. Staying true to his roots, he later began coaching youth soccer in Blaine and with the North Metro Soccer Club.
Coach Cowan works at Andover High School and lives in Andover with his wife, Barb, and three kids, Brandon, Mariah and Hannah. He helps coach basketball and is the Head Varsity Golf coach at Andover High School. He has also spent 21 years as a volunteer fire fighter in Andover.

B SQUAD HEAD COACH
Kris Nosworthy returns for his third season as a coach at Andover High School. He holds an Australian Referees License and many years experience coaching junior and youth level boys and girls. Coach Nosworthy has a passion for soccer and for having fun playing. He was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and played for Manly United FC, captaining his side to both Regional and State wide tournaments for four consecutive years. This led him to be selected to the NSW State Team where he earned a National Title. Nosworthy moved to the US when he accepted a full ride scholarship at Division 1 Adelphi University in New York. Here he captained his team to two Conference Championships.

B SQUAD ASSISTANT COACH
Stephen Fregosi returns for his third year as a coach at Andover High School. He is a transplant from Long Island, NY and has been living in Minnesota for almost 4 years. Coach Fregosi has been heavily involved in youth player development and was a trainer for the prestigious Storm Soccer Academy in New York. He also was the Varsity Assistant coach for the Massapequa High School boys soccer team which won the Class AAA NY State Championship in 2011. Fregosi also played at Massapequa and led his teams to 3 conference championships, 2 Long Island championships and a State Tournament Final. He went on to earn a scholarship to play Division 1 ball at Adelphi University in New York where he captained his team to a conference championship and a bid to the NCAA tournament.

C SQUAD HEAD COACH
Bill Potts will be joining our program for his first season as a coach at Andover High School. Bill has a lifelong enthusiasm for soccer that he will now bring to the Andover Girls Soccer program. Coach Potts started playing soccer at the age of 10 and later brought what he had learned to coach his daughter’s teams for 9 years in the Coon Rapids Youth Soccer League. More recently, he coached a club soccer team in Minneapolis for 2 Years. He has been a Physical Education teacher for the last 20 years and will now be teaching in the AH school district again.
Coach Potts also serves in the Minnesota National Guard and has been for the past 27 years. He resides in Coon Rapids with his beautiful wife Robin of 20 years and his two daughters who participate on several athletic teams for a neighboring school.
