From the Roaring '20s, this production is nothing short of a lion's roar. Big over-the-top costumes, pouring with jewels and embellishments, this show was such a fun experience.
A main obstacle to overcome was the specific time period costumes; the wardrobe closet had a limited supply. In the end, it was a mixture of altering, borrowing, and creating that fulfilled the demand.
A huge task on its own was the number "Show off." With 8 different costume changes in this over-the-top number, finding the right costumes was certainly a challenge. The worry about how to make quick, seamless changes was solved by using magnets. To create the quick change, a yellow dress was bought, cut down the middle, and magnets were added to close it. To make the wrap-around skirt, basic yellow fabric was sewn into a skirt using a vintage pattern. The fringe was attached later on and made quite a mess! The skirt was attacked by — yet again — magnets. With the yellow fabric and fringe, we also made a matching shawl — and, you guessed it, it was attached by magnets.
