This somber and real story of 1920 dial painters was an intense and, ironically, enjoyable show to work on. The challenge for this was it was double cast and period piece so not only did we not have a lot of period piece costumes in storage, but we needed 2 costumes for the same character. I pulled together a bunch of skirts, blouses, vests, and slacks, and mixed and matched until the perfect 20's combo fit. I paid attention to the use of green in this production, as time went on more people who were affected by the radium began to wear dark and darker green, and Grace Fryer eventually ended in a black dress to represent her defeat. You can see this in these photos in the factory girls' green aprons, Katherine Schaub's dress in her wheelchair, and Marie Curie's dress.
