Using Voice Thread in the classroom

VoiceThread, is an effective tool that can be used by student and teachers to present information in a unique and universal way. This tool is especially beneficial in differentiated classrooms in a K-12 school building. As different students learn in different ways, VoiceThread is a useful tool for students that benefit from auditory learning or for students that may need to hear information a second or third time to truly internalize it. In addition to engaging auditory learners, VoiceThread comes with a great visual component to match with the audio. This is beneficial to students that may need to have an additional visual component to auditory notes.

An example of a project one may be able to do in their K-12 classroom is a Personal Digital History. A Personal Digital History is a collection of artifacts from an individual's life, which they analyze, in order for viewers of their project to better understand that person. Reflection on completing the Personal Digital History:

This project helped me engage with the SCIM-C process of inquiry. By using this process, I was able to analyze important artifacts that I felt represented myself. By looking into these objects and asking myself important inquiry based questions such as, "what may one infer from this piece?" I began to configure my own explanations of the meanings each one of these artifacts have to me. This was very helpful in covering gaps that I may have forgotten about these pieces, and helped me think a little more critically on each of them. It also encouraged great dialogue with my loved ones in the process.
