Title: AI Must Become Planet-Centered, Not Just Human-Centered
Abstract: In this talk, she argues why contemporary responsible AI paradigms are not enough to support complex global social and environmental challenges, e.g. climate change. She proposes Planet-centered AI as a design philosophy and research agenda that reorients AI toward some of the most complex problems of our time.
The talk will examine AI’s impacts across society, the economy and the environment, showing why the interconnected systems around us require us to think beyond narrow measures of technological performance or individual harm. She will discuss what this means for how we assess the impacts of AI, and highlight foundational research gaps that must be addressed if AI is to genuinely contribute to a more sustainable future.
