Our submissions are open to all writers from the Southern United States, as well as those with pieces set in or pertaining to the South. We are currently seeking short stories, nonfiction pieces, and poetry submissions. See each category's guidelines below. If you have something that does not fit into any of those categories, but you feel would be a good fit for our magazine, please send an email of enquiry.Â
We are currently only accepting works from authors from or living in the Southern United States, or those with pieces pertaining to the South. We are not accepting anything outside of these parameters. Please state your relation to the South in either your cover letter or your bio.
We are looking for previously unpublished material. We encourage simultaneous submissions, but please inform us if your submission is published elsewhere.
All submissions should be send to andalusiareview@gmail.com. Please title your email as follows: Submission: [Your Last Name]. In the body of your email, include a third person bio of 50 or less words. Your submission should be an attached doc(x) file. Include your name in the title of that file. Please do not put your submission in the body of the email. We encourage, but do not require, a cover letter.
While we enjoy hearing from you, please wait six months after a rejection to send us another piece. All resubmissions of rejected pieces, regardless of edits made, will be disregarded without response.
Should your submission be accepted, you will be published in the online issue of The Andalusia Review, as well as the print anthology at the end of the year. At this time, we cannot provide monetary compensation for submissions.
If your work is accepted at The Andalusia Review, you agree to grant us First North American Serial Rights, all archival rights, plus the rights to reprint in any future anthologies. Upon publication all rights revert back to the author. You agree that if your piece(s) subsequently appears elsewhere (in print or online), you will give due credit to The Andalusia Review.
We try to respond to submissions within two weeks, but response times may vary with submission traffic. Patience is appreciated!
