Ancestree is a Family Tree application that helps discover, preserve and share your family story.

We care about your privacy and the security of your personal information.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

While using our App, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you, including:

Email address
First name and last name
Profile photo (optional)
Authentication identifiers from Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In (if you choose to sign in using these methods)
Family tree data that you choose to enter, including names, relationships, dates, and biographical notes about your family members
Photographs, scanned documents, and notes that you upload and attach to family tree records
Payment/subscription status (we do not collect or store your card details — these are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play billing systems)
Usage Data (see below)

Usage Data

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage events — such as which features are used and how often — to help us understand app performance and improve the App. This data is not linked to your name, email, or account identity, and is not shared with advertisers or used for cross-app tracking.

Information from Third-Party Sign-In

If you register or log in through Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we may collect information already associated with your account with that service, such as your name and email address, limited to the scope of the permissions you grant.

How We Use Your Personal Data

We use Personal Data for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain our App, including to monitor usage and let you build and manage your family tree
To manage your Account, including authentication and access to App features
To manage Subscriptions, including processing purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and verifying entitlement to Starter, Family, or other paid tiers
To store and sync your data, including your family tree, uploaded photographs, and documents, via secure cloud storage (Firebase)
To contact you, by email regarding updates or informational communications related to features, or necessary security notices
To provide customer support
For business transfers, to evaluate or conduct a merger, sale, or transfer of company assets
For other purposes, such as understanding anonymous usage trends and improving the App

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

- Firebase Authentication (Google) — used for user sign-up and login. Data involved: email, name, authentication tokens.

- Firebase Firestore (Google) — used for storing family tree data and app preferences. Data involved: family tree content, user preferences.

- Firebase Storage (Google) — used for storing uploaded photos and documents. Data involved: images, PDFs, and other uploaded files.

- Firebase Analytics (Google) — used for anonymous, aggregated app usage insights. Data involved: anonymous usage events, not linked to your identity.

- Google Sign-In — optional login method. Data involved: name, email, Google account identifier.

- Sign in with Apple — optional login method. Data involved: name, email (or Apple-provided relay email).

- Apple App Store / Google Play Billing (via Unity IAP) — used for processing subscription payments. Data involved: purchase/transaction status (we do not receive full payment card details).

Retention of your Personal Data

We retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy — generally, for as long as your Account remains active. If you delete your Account, we will delete or anonymise your Personal Data, including your family tree entries and uploaded media, within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with a legal obligation.

Transfer of your Personal Data

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and at the facilities of our Service Providers (Google Firebase), which may be located outside of the United Kingdom or your jurisdiction. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including reliance on Google's standard contractual clauses for international data transfers.

Deleting your Personal Data

You have the right to request deletion of your Account and associated Personal Data. You can:

- Delete individual family members, photos, documents, or notes directly within the App

- Request full Account deletion by contacting us at jamvlc@yahoo.es

We will respond to deletion requests within 30 days.

Disclosure of your Personal Data

Law Enforcement

Under certain circumstances, we may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

Other Legal Requirements

We may disclose Personal Data in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of the Company or users, prevent or investigate wrongdoing, or protect against legal liability.

We do not sell your Personal Data to third parties.

Security of your Personal Data

The security of your Personal Data is important to us. Data is stored using Google Firebase's secure infrastructure, including encryption in transit. However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under this age. If you become aware that a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove that information.

Note: family tree records may reasonably reference deceased or living relatives, including minors, entered by an adult user. This does not constitute the collection of a minor's data directly from the minor.

Your Data Protection Rights (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have the right to:

- Access the Personal Data we hold about you

- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data

- Erase your Personal Data ("right to be forgotten")

- Restrict or object to processing of your data

- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format

- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk, or your local supervisory authority

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of these third-party sites. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
