ZHANG & LEE EMPIRE
Edward Alexander Havier Zhang was born to Helena Anastasia Shang-Zhang and Bernatt Havier Zhang, inheriting two family histories built on very different foundations. Helena is an internationally respected cultural diplomat, known for fostering partnerships between museums, orchestras, universities, and cultural institutions across Europe and Asia. Throughout her career, she has advised governments, represented cultural initiatives at international forums, and worked alongside leading figures in the arts and heritage sectors. Gracious and quietly influential, Helena is regarded as a bridge between institutions rather than politics, earning the respect of diplomats, scholars, and patrons alike.
Bernatt's story began elsewhere. Raised in a modest Javanese-Chinese family in Surabaya, he built his career without inherited wealth or privilege. His life changed when he met Keano Louis Arthur Lee, a fellow young businessman whose ambition matched his own. What began as a friendship eventually became one of the luxury industry's longest-standing partnerships. Together, they transformed LE-HAVRÉ into one of the world's foremost high jewellery maisons. Today, Keano serves as President and Chief Executive Officer, while Bernatt stands beside him as Vice Chairman, their partnership built as much on trust as it is on business.
Four years after Edward's birth came his younger sister, Clarissa Eloise Havier Zhang. As a child, Clarissa imagined a life devoted to ballet and painting, with little interest in boardrooms or balance sheets. Over time, however, she came to believe that preserving a family sometimes demanded more than affection. She chose to step into the world of business, determined to stand beside her parents and, when the time came, shoulder the weight alongside her brother.
The friendship between Bernatt and Keano meant their children were raised almost as one family. Edward grew up alongside Keano's twins, George William Louis Arthur Lee and Elizabeth Cathlyn Louis Arthur Lee. William became the younger brother he never had, though adulthood would eventually test that bond with ambition, expectation, and the burdens of succession.
Cathlyn, on the other hand, was Edward's first love. Years have taken them to different countries, different lives, and different futures, yet no distance has ever managed to settle the lingered question he still carries. Among all the decisions that shaped the man he became, she remains the one he returns to most often—and the regret that has never quite learned to fade.
