I am a mathematical physicist and my research focuses on quantum and classical integrable systems and quantum algebras. More specifically, I have been studying integrable quantum spin chains and Bethe ansatz techniques, quantum groups or Hopf algebras, braid groups, Hecke and Temperley-Lieb algebras, solutions of the Yang-Baxter and reflection equations, and their set-theoretic versions. I have also been working on classical discrete integrable systems and integrable field theories, in particular on Hamiltonian methods, dressing techniques and solitons in integrable ODEs & PDEs.
I studied physics as an undergraduate at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and I obtained my PhD in theoretical and mathematical physics from University of Miami in 1999. Between 1999 and 2007 I held postdoctoral positions at Durham University, University of York (EPSRC Fellowship), LAPTH-Annecy and University of Bologna. I was assistant professor at University of Patras before joining the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) at Heriot-Watt University in 2013 as a reader.
