Teaching Research Philosophy
Teaching was first choice as a profession. I always liked to share what I know to others in a most simplified manner from high school as I used to be a part of a peer learning group. I started my career as Guest Lecturer for MBA Evening college. Majority Students were above my age as they were working professionals and pursuing MBA for Promotion purpose. My first student was 51 years old. It was challenging but my interest in teaching helped in continue in the profession. I always believe the teacher has a main role in contributing to the development of society. It has also made me realise that it is not a one day show but a continuous process to develop myself as an Impact Lecturer.
As a commerce graduate with specialisation in finance, I have the curiosity to teach subjects that will put me in uncomfortable zone. As they say “there is no end to learning”, I always wish to update myself with recent developments in the subject matter. Though the journey was not easy at the beginning, it took few years to develop myself as a teacher as the perception of teaching has changed overtime. As the teaching methodology and students’ Approach towards higher education is evolving overtime, my job satisfaction also changes accordingly. The ultimate satisfaction is when students achieve their goals and remember us in the form of gratitude.
My Teaching Approach:
Since I was teaching Cost and Finance, my sole intention in teaching was to present the concept in an easier way so that students can grasp it easily.
I always wanted my students to ask WHY they learn that particular subject under a concerned programme. Unless you know the importance, it is of no use apart from getting marks in certificates.
I always expect students to try to visualise the concepts. My thought behind this is that if you are able to picturise the concept then it will never vanish. (Visual Memory)
I believe that understanding and application of concepts that you learn is more important than how you perform in exams.
It is an opportunity to inspire students in setting and achieving their goals
I always wanted to have a fruitful interaction with students to understand their level of knowledge. It provides an opportunity for students to contribute their views. It leads to critical/analytical thinking about the subject matter as well.
Apart from teaching I also motivate the student to follow some business etiquettes and develop accountability.
My Research Philosophy:
I believe that research is the area that keeps your interests alive. It enriches teaching and makes the concept that you teach more significant. Curiosity is the main ingredient for the research.
What next…
⮚ The integration of technology in management is developing at a faster pace. So, it is my ambition to keep myself updated by doing some technical courses online.
⮚ To start some research in the interested field.
⮚ To try to bring some new approaches in teaching and learning process as the students approach in education has changed post pandemic.
⮚ To bring more productive outcomes among students apart from academic performance.
