I wholeheartedly resonate with the quote by the late French poet Charles Baudelaire and strive to maintain the same curiosity that fueled my childhood wonder. This mindset has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional growth, keeping me not only progressive but also happy and grounded. Learning is my greatest joy, and I find immense pleasure in activities that expand my knowledge.
From a young age, I was fascinated by the stars, planets, and machines. This curiosity naturally led me to pursue Mechanical Engineering at IIT Delhi, where I honed my critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Courses like fluid mechanics, gas dynamics, and computational fluid dynamics captured my imagination, and the guidance from my professors taught me how to approach problems from multiple angles.
After graduating, I joined Indian Oil Corporation Limited, India’s largest petroleum refiner and a Fortune 500 company, as a Senior Engineering Officer in the capital projects department. This role allowed me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world challenges, deepening my understanding of project lifecycle management, contract management, and conflict resolution. Over 3.5 years, I transformed into a more capable and confident individual.
My journey then took me to the Operations Department as an Assistant Manager, where I navigated a completely different landscape focused on efficiency and standard operating procedures. After a year, I transitioned to the Retail Sales department, where the scale of stakeholder management was a new challenge. Initially daunting, this role quickly became an exciting opportunity to enhance my people skills, turning it into one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
Technology and Business
During my undergraduate studies, I developed a keen interest in the business side of technology, fascinated by how technological disruptions reshape industries. This curiosity only grew stronger during my career, leading me to explore business and economics further. I found myself diving into company reports and analyzing industries, which eventually helped me manage my own investments more effectively.
However, I realized that to truly excel, I needed formal education in finance and management. This led me to make the bold decision to leave my job in July 2023 and pursue an MBA at IIM Nagpur. Now in my senior year, the past year has been an exhilarating journey of learning and growth. I’m thoroughly enjoyed this second phase of college life, where I not only expanded my knowledge but also had a lot of fun along the way.
In my spare time, I like to read (thanks to my father) and play badminton. I go on hiking trips and enjoy long drives. One of my most memorable trips was visiting Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttrakhand, India. The place feels right out of fantasy and gives you the main character vibe. I am an avid fan of instrumental and new-age music and enjoy extending my playlist. I also like photography and video editing. I consider these as another mode of expression for me, and whenever I get time, I try to gain new skills on this front because, in the digital world, this mode of expression has become almost mandatory.
