Ana Melissa Pérez Castaño

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota. I also hold a bachelor's and master's degree in Economics. 

My research interests include health, development, and agricultural economics. 

This fall, 2026, I will join Universidad Javeriana as an Assistant Professor. My previous experience includes a research assistantship in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota, a graduate internship at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), three years as a junior researcher at the Center for Studies in Social Protection and Health Economics (PROESA), and a position at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT).
