Introduction
Hi, my is Ana Luz Acevedo-Cabrera and I am a long-time resident of the Monterey Bay Area. I grew up in North Monterey County, went on to obtain science and engineering degrees from UC Berkeley, spent the majority of my professional career as an engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area, and returned to the place I grew up at the start of the pandemic.
Today I am a Professor at Hartnell College, teaching at the intersection of Business, Technology, and Entrepreneurship. In the coming semesters I’ll also be teaching Physical Science and Engineering.
Outside the classroom I am a community leader and organizer in Monterey County. I am also a Board Member of two local Nonprofits - CHISPA Housing and the Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries.
Prior to teaching, I was a Software Engineer, an Entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, and an Earthquake Engineer, doing the seismic hazard of nuclear power plants.
My strong multidisciplinary background gives me the ability to analyze problems from multiple angles and come up with innovative solutions. I am also a quick learner and can thrive in constant change so you can count on me to get the job done regardless of the challenges ahead.
