Anais Amin is a Los Angeles-based professional excelling in journalism, marketing, and community service. With a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, she brings her expertise in radio production, brand management, and advocacy to the forefront, striving to enact positive change in her community and beyond.
Anais Amin was nurtured in Los Angeles, California. Her academic journey began at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in English. At UCLA, she was heavily involved in student government, representing over 30,000 undergraduate students as one of 14 council members.
Her participation in student government was driven by a commitment to social justice, expanding access to higher education, and enhancing mental health services for veterans. She was pivotal in promoting social justice awareness and education across the campus, overseeing a team of 40 volunteers dedicated to these causes. Additionally, she took on the significant task of moderating a debate among candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Following her undergraduate experience, Anais furthered her education at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Journalism in 2020. She specialized in multimedia journalism, focusing on audio, text, and video formats.
Her graduate studies featured a comprehensive 5,000-word thesis on the resettlement of a Syrian refugee family in the U.S., complemented by a published article about her family's survival from genocide and a video project on medication-assisted recovery.
While at Columbia, she engaged in investigative journalism, covering civil and criminal courts in the Bronx. Her reports shed light on pressing issues such as sexual abuse in Orthodox schools and the excessive use of force by private security personnel.
Anais launched her professional career in radio production, gaining substantial experience working with industry leaders. From January 2022 to December 2022, she was a production assistant at Marketplace, a renowned public radio program produced by American Public Media.
In this role, she researched and pitched interview topics, pre-interviewed guests, and edited audio segments. Her duties extended to writing scripts for hosts, producing digital content, and collaborating with other producers to create compelling content. She often focused on same-day interviews and personal audio essays.
Before her full-time role, she interned at Marketplace from June to December 2021, assisting in guest research, show preparation, and digital content production.
Furthermore, she was a production assistant at KPFK Radio 90.7 FM from 2017 to 2019. She booked and interviewed scholars and experts for discussions on diverse topics, including social issues, economics, and science. She was responsible for developing weekly show topics, editing interviews, and producing high-quality radio segments that met broadcasting standards.
Apart from her accomplishments in journalism, Anais has also excelled in marketing and brand management. She currently oversees the Marketing and Brand Manager for a fashion manufacturer, managing multimillion-dollar accounts and spearheading effective marketing campaigns.
Before her current position, Anais served as an executive assistant at a dental lab in Thousand Oaks, California, in 2017. Her responsibilities included overseeing marketing strategies, managing accounting tasks, and ensuring smooth company operations. She facilitated communication between management and staff, resolved conflicts, and maintained workplace harmony.
She also interned in PR and marketing at The Borgen Project, where she focused on global poverty reduction. This role involved engaging political leaders to support legislation to reduce poverty and creating outreach materials to mobilize support among political and community leaders.
Anais is deeply committed to volunteering and collaborating with various organizations, including animal shelters and a horse ranch for special needs children. She has been active in local political campaigns and supported numerous charitable causes, including the Children of Armenia Fund, journalist support initiatives, and REBUILD THE BLOCK, which supports Black-owned small businesses.
Anais is an accomplished oil painter and a passionate photographer. She uses these forms of expression to share her artistic vision and capture unique perspectives. She enjoys outdoor activities, frequents museums, and is keen on exploring different cultures.
