Scientific focus
ANA-PDE will be a two-day collaborative working session on the analysis and reliable computation of nonlinear and nonlocal spectral problems. Its central objective is to connect rigorous qualitative information - including variational structure, symmetry, regularity, spectral stability and asymptotic behavior - with numerical methods that preserve or verify these properties. The session will focus on elliptic and fractional operators, nonlinear eigenvalue problems and inverse problems in which coefficients or geometries are inferred from spectral or boundary data.
The participants will work on two benchmark problems selected before the meeting and address the following questions:
How do nonlinearity, nonlocality, and geometric perturbations affect spectra, eigenfunctions, and stability?
Which spectral or boundary measurements determine coefficients, interactions, or geometric features?
How can numerical discretizations and data-driven solvers preserve variational structure and provide accurate approximations?
