Perevil of the Peak, Hf holidays, Thorpe, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire.
By trains, buses, and a long walk. Nearly at the HF house.
Saturday, Buxton on the bus today and the long walk back to HF house, the sky looks like autumn today leaving the house. There was a peace vigil for inner peace or world peace, the people standing created a quietness in their circle.
Sunday 5-mile walk to Dovedale and Iiam, the National Trust YHA House, where I stopped to buy tea and eat my packed lunch. The hills slow me, so Fit compensates wrongly and says I walked further but did not put so much effort in. The cross was placed 100s of years ago there are three still surviving including one at King's Cross, London.
Monday bus to Ashbourne walk around then return. First and last, the 1.5 mile walk to the bus stop Gates, Tissington.
Tuesday bus to Ashbourne, then another bus to Brailsford, my granny's maiden name, a brother of one of her ancestors was the postmaster of the hamlet or now a village. Actually, an employee of Tissington estate gave me a lift to Ashbourne.
Wednesday, Buxton again. The tiling is often kept and is lovely in northern English towns. Fitzgerald's bakery had four vegan options, whereas most places had none and some had one. It was wet in the morning, but the week's weather turned out okay.
Thursday, one of the boilers had failed, the previous Friday, the arrival day, leaving some rooms with cold water people chose to stay though they had been offered, refunds, alternatives and discount if they stayed. But from Monday many went home anyway, and fewer people were staying, because of the hot water issue so on Thursday, there was capacity for me to join a guided walk and I purchased a day's guided walk that walked from the house. The walk was to Dovedale and Milldale. I believe the extra charge was £30 to £40 depending on variables and the policy of the particular house?
Friday, on my way home, I stopped at Verdi Vegan Café in Derby. The train journey was delayed, so the later connecting train was crowded than, my planned earlier, not crowded train, and I had to stand a bit.
I got 25% of the ticket price delay claim back.
