Amy Hsin, a Full Professor of Sociology at Queens College, City University of New York, specializes in immigration, social inequality, education, public policy, and Asian American studies. Dr. Hsin has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals like The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Demography, Social Forces, and International Migration Review and is completing her book on the lives of undocumented young adults in NYC. Her work has garnered attention from major media outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, CNN, The Economist, TIME, and NPR. Dr. Hsin's research has received support from notable organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the William T. Grant Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and the Russell Sage Foundation. She was named in the City and States' Education 100 Power List in 2021 and serves on the advisory board of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation/Russell Sage Foundation Pipeline Award Grants.

Dr. Hsin received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from New York University. 

Dr. Hsin is currently working on her first book based on a mixed-method study of undocumented young adults in NYC. This book explores the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity among the undocumented population in NYC. It analyzes how diverse origins, along with immigration policies, stratify education trajectories, life aspirations, and social connections. The book will be published by Russell Sage Foundation Press.
