In the following paper written collaboratively in the style of the ACL (Anthology of Computational Linguistics), my groupmates and I explore the correlation between the clichés and the modern scholarly and popular reception of 19th-century English novelists. I wrote sections 3, 4, and 6.3, providing an overview of the novelists and cliché lexicon and a discussion of our overall results. I was also responsible for the compilation and cleaning of the metadata and data we used, such as obtaining all the markers of modern reception from our sources and preprocessing the novels and cliché lexicon with regular expressions.
