I am currently a PhD candidate in the Ecology program at Penn State. I am also in the Anthropology department. I have been working on a variety of projects during my PhD, but my overall interests are in people's relationships to the environment. Some of these projects have involved endangered plants, others have involved working with mushroom hunters throughout mid Atlantic region.
Regardless, my goal is to combine ecological and social science methods to better understand the world around us!
I'm passionate about mentoring and outreach and have worked with Penn State Extension and the Penn State Arboretum to help create workshops about morel mushrooms (you can watch the recording of the workshop here) and backyard foraging in the state of Pennsylvania. Overall, I find communicating research with community members to be some the most fulfilling components of being a scientist!
Finally, if you are a mushroom hunter or mycologist on the east coast, I am still collecting data for my dissertation research. You can find more information here!
