1. Summary
You do not need an account, and the app never asks for your name, email address or phone number.
Your music, audio files and notifications never leave your device.
Your settings (volume boost, equalizer, presets, theme, edge lighting, language) are stored only on your device.
The app is free and shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Ads may use your device's advertising ID; you can choose non-personalized ads (see section 5).
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and fix crashes.
We do not sell your personal data.
2. Permissions We Use and Why
Each permission is used only for the feature described. Optional permissions can be declined or revoked at any time in your phone's Settings; the related feature simply stops working.
Record audio (microphone) — used only by Android's audio Visualizer to draw the live music spectrum from the sound your phone is playing. The app does not record, save or send any audio and does not listen to your surroundings. Optional.
Notification access — Android requires this before an app can see which song is playing in another music app. It is used only to show the song title, artist, artwork and play/pause state in the mini player and to let you play, pause and skip. The app does not read the content of your notifications or messages, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. Optional.
Music and audio files — used to list and play audio files stored on your device in the Files tab. Files are played locally and are never uploaded. Optional.
Display over other apps — used only to show the edge lighting border on top of other apps when you turn on "Overlay all app". Optional.
Notifications and foreground service — shows a notification while the booster is running so Android keeps the volume boost and equalizer active in the background.
Modify audio settings — changes the media volume and applies sound effects (boost, bass, 3D surround, equalizer, reverb).
Internet and advertising ID — used to load and display ads, measure ad performance, and send analytics and crash reports.
Vibration — light haptic feedback while turning the controls. Can be switched off in Settings.
List of installed music apps — used only to show the music players on your phone so you can open one from the app. This list is not collected or sent anywhere.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
Volume Booster saves your preferences locally on your device, such as boost level, equalizer settings, saved presets, selected theme, edge lighting settings and language. This information is not sent to us. If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android may include these settings in your device backup to your Google account, under Google's terms. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes this information.
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following services provided by Google LLC:
Firebase Analytics — collects usage information such as app opens, screens viewed, session length, app version, device model, operating system version, language and approximate country (derived from the IP address), linked to a randomly generated app instance ID. We use it only to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
Firebase Crashlytics — when the app crashes, it collects a crash report including the stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version, memory and storage state at the time of the crash, and a random installation identifier. We use it only to find and fix bugs.
Google AdMob — shows ads in the app. See section 5.
None of these services receive your audio, music files, song information or notification content. Google processes this data according to its own policies:
Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
How Google uses information from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Firebase privacy and security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google advertising: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
When you choose "Share app" or "Rate us", the app opens your phone's share menu or the Google Play Store. Anything you do there is governed by those apps' own privacy policies.
5. Advertising
Volume Booster is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob, which may include banner, interstitial (full screen) and rewarded ads. To show and measure ads, AdMob and its advertising partners may collect and use:
Your device's advertising ID (Android Advertising ID)
IP address and approximate location (country or city level, derived from the IP address)
Device information such as model, operating system, language and screen size
Interactions with ads, such as ad views, clicks and installs
Diagnostic information about how ads load and perform
This information may be used to show ads that are more relevant to you (personalized ads), to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure ad performance and to prevent fraud.
Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another region where consent is required, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, using Google's consent tool. You can change your choice at any time where this option is available in the app. If you do not consent, you may still see non-personalized ads, which are based on general context rather than your personal profile.
Opting out. You can limit ad personalization at any time on your Android device by going to Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your phone) and deleting or resetting your advertising ID. You can also manage Google ad settings at https://adssettings.google.com.
We do not control the content of ads provided by third parties and are not responsible for the websites or apps you visit through an ad.
6. How We Use Information
To provide the app's features (volume boost, equalizer, music controls, edge lighting).
To understand which features are used and improve the app.
To detect, diagnose and fix crashes and technical problems.
To show ads that keep the app free, as described in section 5.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Apart from the Google services described above, we do not share your information with third parties.
7. Data Retention
Settings stored on your device remain until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Analytics and crash data are kept by Google Firebase for a limited period according to Firebase's retention settings, after which they are automatically deleted. Advertising data is retained by Google according to Google's own policies.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can deny or revoke any optional permission in your phone's Settings at any time.
You can turn off notification access in Settings → Notifications → Notification access (the exact path depends on your phone).
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device's Google settings (see section 5).
You can uninstall the app at any time, which stops all data collection by the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to or deletion of data collected about you. Contact us at the email below and we will help.
9. Security
We rely on the security features of Android and Google Firebase to protect information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect it.
10. Children's Privacy
Volume Booster is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads in the app are not intended for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Hearing Safety
Playing audio at very high volume can damage your hearing, your speaker or your device. The app shows a warning before boosting above 100%. Please use the booster responsibly.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
