For over seven decades, AMSA has stood up for equity, social justice and inclusion in health care — by banding together as a unified force for positive change. Together, we’re working to create a more human, just and accessible realm of medicine.
Furthermore, we are independent — this means we can advocate for change with no conflict of interest from corporate, governing bodies — unlike many other student organizations.
AMSA's committees represent the primary areas we feel all aspiring physicians should value as vital in becoming a socially responsible physician/healer.

In college, classes about anatomy or genetics or organic chemistry can only go so far in preparing students for a career in medicine. There are so many nuances to medicine, and so many unique topics that even traditional medical school curricula might fail to cover. Through skills trainings, partner events, and educational workshops, we aim to give premedical students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn medical skills WHILE STILL IN COLLEGE!
Our biggest goal is to equip premedical students with medical-school-level knowledge on topics like social determinants of health, reproductive care, health insurance economics, and other areas that play major roles in the real-life practice of medicine.
Ultimately, we strive to empower our members with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be active participants in shaping an educational environment that best prepares physicians to make a difference in the lives of their patients.
